GardenAssist

Problem Statement

Getting into planning a garden that will thrive and survive in different climates is not a task to take on lightly, especially with the high-startup costs associated. Different areas of the state support a variety of plant types and for those interested in local horticulture and cultivating a garden of Georgia native plants it becomes a niche area of information not easily found without knowing where to begin. With GardenAssist a user can locate their zone and see appropriate plant recommendations based on that and their interests.

Timeline

January 2018 - May 2018

Role

In this project, I served as the Project Manager and Software Engineer. I designed the user interface, worked on the custom zone identification functionality, built out a database of plants, and submitted all related reports for this project.

Planned End Product

In the beginning this application would have had the ability to use the camera to detect the light of an area and interpret that for recommending plants based on that as well; however, the end product focused on the zoning map.
